Kit's flour-sack bloomers

Kit's flour-sack bloomers are shown in Happy Birthday Kit, page 20. They look like they go to the knees. If so, what would Kit have worn them with? Would they show under her birthday dress? Would she wear them with her overalls? I'd like to make my Kit some flour-sack or feedsack undergarments but can't figure out the length to make since most of Kit's dresses seem too short to wear with bloomers.

Hi, I just sent you a PM.
In my humble opinion, I do not think that Kit would really have worn bloomers. They were much more modern in the 30's. Why not just the underpants like Samantha comes with? My Molly came with the same underwear but she really would have worn the knit ones that come in her Molly's Undies Set (I only know that because she is my age). I have not looked at that page of the book yet but you could probably see the flour sack material pretty well in the Samantha or Molly original underwear pattern.
Now stop laughing as I know nothing about his stuff but thought that I should give an opinion.

My grandma who would have been 12 in 1934, said her mother used to sew her underwear out of muslin. (They were very poor. So, I don't think it was that uncommon in the depression.) They probably were above the knee. They wouldn't have shown when wearing a dress.

I have noticed that Samantha and Molly have a lot of the same things underwear (at least the one that she comes in)and shoes. Not being for that time I have bought Molly's underwear and given hers to my protoype Nellie (anyone who hates her underwear I will be excepting the rotten food thrown at me now.)Although I thought for sure they would be tie on panites or at least elastic with a sort of "mock" bow on the side since unlike childen the dolls don't have hips and it would be hard for the panites to stay on. I wonder why Molly and Samantha have much of the same things? While they were realesed with Kirsten and she has stuff all her own.

Hey, I am on am underwear fetish right now also. Samantha and Molly do have the same underwear but I know that Molly would have worn the cotton underwear that come in her "undies" set as that is what I wore. I just got Kit yesterday (I cannot takes my eyes off of her, she is just adorable) and she underwear is just a little different from Sam and Molly. Same material but Sam and Molly seem to have an extra little plain ruffle around the edge.
I am sure that no one else is doing a study of the dolls underwear so I just thought I would just add my two cents!!!

Yes, I'm veering off topic here. My theory on the reason Molly and Sam are so much alike and Kirsten isn't: the dolls were originally created from Gotz dolls, and I think PC used as many Gotz products as they could. I have noticed many other Gotz dolls on ebay with the same ucky shoes. I bet they have the same underwear. So PC though, they can both pass for 1904 and 1944, so we'll just use those Gotz items. But the items just would not pass for 1854, so they had to find something else for Kirsten. I have always felt that the first Meet outfits were cheap and they have gotten better over time. (As in the time when the doll was first released. Molly's, Sam's, and Kirsten's are still cheap.)
